I know it will take a lot more time. But trust me, it’s worth it.

When a recruiter looks at your resume, it must grab their attention in under 60 seconds, if not shorter. Because they receive so many resumes, they are more likely to skim through them quickly.

Therefore, you have to organize your resume. And once it’s ready, you’re good to go.

  • Take a close look at the job description. 
  • Determine the essential skill set required for the position. 
  • Then you may start working on your resume. 
  • Make sure to emphasize the skills and experiences you have that are a perfect match for the required skill. 
  • Then add various experiences that might be useful for that role.

Remember: You only have 60 seconds first to catch the attention of the recruiter. And your resume needs to be concise and clear. 

Mistake 3: Having no online presence.

Everyone and everything is now accessible via the internet.

Recruiters are the same way. You’d want your information to be easily accessible to recruiters via the internet. Either through social media or professional online networks like LinkedIn. And depending on your field, you can even create a YouTube channel or have a bunch of portfolio blogs, a GitHub if you are in tech.
